1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how Skinny Research Labs collects, uses, and protects personal information when you interact with skinnyresearchlabs.com. By using the Site, you accept this Policy.

2. Who we are

Skinny Research Labs is a U.S.-based research-supply company. Contact: support@skinnyresearchlabs.com.

3. What we collect

Information you give us when you register or place an order:

  • Researcher details — first name, last name, phone number, account type, business type, “how did you hear about us”, optional company name, optional website, optional EIN/Tax ID.
  • Shipping and billing data — street address, city, state, postal code, country.
  • Account credentials — username and a hashed password. Plain-text passwords are never stored.
  • Order and transaction data — products ordered, quantities, prices, payment method (tokenized), shipping selections, and order history.
  • Communications — messages you send to us by email, contact form, or live chat.

Information we collect automatically:

  • Technical data — IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referrer URL, pages viewed, time on page.
  • Diagnostic and error data — when a page, form, or request encounters a technical error, we log the page URL, error message, browser type, and (if you are signed in) your account, so we can identify and fix the problem. We do not record keystrokes, password fields, or payment-card details in these logs.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — essential session cookies, security tokens, and a Google reCAPTCHA v3 token. We do not place third-party advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site behavioral-tracking cookies. Because we only use strictly-necessary cookies and a single security/anti-bot token, we do not currently display a cookie consent banner.

4. How we use information

  1. Verify researcher eligibility.
  2. Process and fulfill orders.
  3. Provide Researcher Account services.
  4. Comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
  5. Protect the Site and our customers.
  6. Send transactional emails (order receipts, verification, password reset). We do not send marketing communications unless you opt in.
  7. Analyze how researchers use the Site to improve the catalog, checkout, and researcher experience.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it. We do not trade it.

5. When we share information

  • Service providers under contract — hosting, payment processor, shipping carriers, email delivery, customer-support tools, accounting/tax software.
  • Professional advisors — attorneys, accountants, insurers.
  • Regulators and law enforcement in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or other lawful request.
  • Successors in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale.

Researchers acting on behalf of an institution or CRO that requires a written subprocessor list may request one in writing at support@skinnyresearchlabs.com.

6. How long we retain information

  • Account data — life of the account plus seven (7) years after closure.
  • Order and transaction data — minimum seven (7) years.
  • Communications — minimum two (2) years.
  • Technical and access logs — ninety (90) days unless extended for security investigation.

7. Security

TLS encryption in transit; Cloudflare in front of the website; rate-limiting and brute-force protection; reCAPTCHA v3 on registration; hashed-and-salted password storage; least-privilege staff access; tokenized payment data.

8. Your rights

  • The right to know what categories of personal information we have collected.
  • The right to access a copy of the specific personal information we hold about you.
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • The right to delete personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • The right to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To exercise these rights, write to support@skinnyresearchlabs.com from the email address associated with your account. We will respond within forty-five (45) days.

The rights above are provided uniformly to all U.S. researchers and meet or exceed CCPA, VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, UCPA, TDPSA, and OCPA.

9. Children

The Site is not intended for, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under 21.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. The most current version is posted on the Site with the “Effective” date.
